Mitchell Board Commits to SAIT Trojans

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are pleased to announce that 20 year old forward Mitchell Board (Calgary, AB) has committed to attend and play for the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) for the upcoming 2012-2013 season.

Mitchell just completed his 2nd year in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with the Oil Barons. During his career he posted 39 goals and 54 assists in 110 regular season games. He also was a clutch performer in the playoffs where he scored 13 goals and 13 assists in 34 post-season contests.

Mitchell's importance to the Oil Barons was illustrated when he was named the team's 2011-2012 Rookie of the Year. He was also recognized for his play as he was voted to the AJHL All-Rookie North Team during the 2011-2012 hockey season. Mitchell was extremely dependable and versatile during his time in Fort McMurray. He was counted on to contribute in all situations.

The Oil Barons organization would like to congratulate Mitchell and his family and wish him all the best in his future endeavours both academically and athletically.

Mitchell becomes the 10th Oil Baron to secure a scholarship to a post-secondary institution this year.
