Oil Barons Sign Goaltender Andrew Ness

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are excited to announce the signing of goalie Andrew Ness ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Ness is the 3rd player signed from the U18 AAA Winnipeg Wild for this upcoming season. The 6’1″ goaltender posted a .927 SV% with a 2.31 GAA with 4 shutouts across 27 regular season games last year with a record of 21-4-1. The 2004 born goalie continued his success into the playoffs with a .926 SV% and a 2.66 GAA.

“Extremely excited to be adding a goalie like Andrew into our goalie tandem with Gabe Gratton for 22-23. Andrew is an athletic, technically sound goaltender. His quickness and ability to make timely saves will allow him to thrive as an Oil Baron. He has proven he loves the big moments. He finds ways of making the big save time and time again giving his team every chance to win on a daily basis.” Said Goalie Coach Rob Nolan. “To say he is the ultimate competitor is an understatement. He led his team to a U18AAA Championship and was named Playoff MVP for the Wild. He has echoed that success at every level growing up through the minor hockey system and we expect him to do the same at the Jr. A level. We think Andrew joining Gabe between the pipes will push each other to be better everyday.”

The Oil Barons would like to welcome Andrew and his family to the organization.
