The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are excited to announce the signing of 6’2″ defenseman Jason Ruff.
Originally from Winnipeg, MB, Ruff played his past 3 seasons with the U18 AAA Winnipeg Wild. Last season the defenseman was point per game putting up 36 points (9 goals and 27 assists) in 36 games while also adding 10 points in 11 playoff games.
“We are looking forward to adding Jason into our line-up for this season. Jason is a big, strong two-way defender with great offensive awareness. His size and stick allow him to shut down plays in the defensive end. He makes a good first pass out of his own end and can shoot rockets from the point in the offensive zone.” Said Assistant Coach Justin Rose. “We expect him to be tough to play against on both sides of the puck being a heavy, physical presence when he is on the ice. He was the Captain of his U18 AAA team in Winnipeg and brings a wealth of leadership, character, and discipline.”
