The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are excited to announce the signing of forward Jason Huang for the 2023-2024 season.
Huang (06) played last season for the Northern Alberta Xtreme Prep Program where he put up 24 points (9 goals and 15 assists) in 28 games. The Edmonton, AB, native also got into 10 regular season games with the Oil Barons last season as an affiliated player where he scored his first career AJHL goal in his first game on November 11th against the Grande Prairie Storm. The young left winger also played in two playoff games with the club.
“Jason is a player that we have been targeting for the past couple years now. He brings skill, high IQ, playmaking ability, and scoring touch to our forward group. When the puck is on his stick, expect him to create plays whether that is off the rush or in the offensive zone. He has good size and is strong on his feet. When he uses his frame to protect pucks and play heavy, he is very effective.” Said Head Coach and General Manager Adam Manah. “We were able to use him in 10 regular season games and two more in the playoffs as an affiliate last year. Again, that experience should only help him coming into this year being familiar with the league and how hard it is. We expect Jason to be a solid 200-foot player that can help contribute offensively 5 on 5 or on the PP.”
The Oil Barons would like to welcome Jason and his family to the organization.
