The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are proud to announce Max McCoy has been named captain ahead of the 2022-23 season.
“We are beyond excited to name Max our captain for 22-23. Simply put, he is everything you want in a Captain. He demands the best out of himself daily and most importantly demands that from his teammates. His character and leadership skills are what makes him stand out from the rest. He is an outstanding leader on and off the ice with how he conducts himself and represents the Oil Barons organization.” Said Head Coach and General Manager Adam Manah. “Coupled with that, his play on the ice spoke for itself in the back half of the year. He was a point per game guy and made big strides within his own game. He will be a player we lean on heavily this season for production and in every situation. Max is ecstatic to be a local guy wearing the C and he takes a lot of pride in representing the city of Fort McMurray and the Oil Barons.”
Max, born and raised in Fort McMurray has spent the previous 2 seasons with the Oil Barons. Last year, the centreman produced 18 goals and 24 assists for 42 points in 60 games.
“There’s a lot of people in our room who are great people and great leaders so to be named captain is a huge honour.” Said McCoy.
