Oil Barons Acquire Spiridakis, Yarish from Blackfalds

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons have acquired forwards Austin Spiridakis, Carter Yarish and Future Considerations from the Blackfalds Bulldogs in exchange for Tyler Wallace.

Spiridakis, originally from St. Albert, spent last season with the Nanaimo Clippers of the BCHL where he amassed 26 points (11 goals and 15 assists) in 47 games. The 2002 born forward is committed to NCAA Division 1 program Quinnipiac.

Yarish is an (03) forward from Prince George, BC, who played in his first season in the AJHL last year with the Bulldogs. In 54 games he scored 12 goals and added 16 assists for 28 points.

“We are very excited to announce two new additions to our line-up. Newly acquired forwards, Austin Spiridakis and Carter Yarish. Austin, is a Division 1 commit heading to Quinnipiac in 2023-24. He is a guy that we will lean on for his offensive ability. He can be a power forward type guy scoring off the rush, at the paint, or by his playmaking ability in seeing the ice well. We are expecting him to be a key contributor at 20 this year. We are also excited to be adding Carter to our forward group. He brings us size, physicality, grittiness, and work ethic to his game. He has terrific speed, can score and is a 200-foot player that is reliable in both ends of the ice. This solidifies us up front and provides us with added depth throughout our four lines. We expect him to bring a little bit of everything to our team which is what will make him the perfect fit into our line-up.” Said Head Coach and General Manager Adam Manah.

Tyler Wallace spent 3 seasons with the Oil Barons and wore the “C” for the second half of the previous season. Wallace put up 58 points (23 goals and 35 points) in 58 points and made the AJHL All League Team in the North Division last year. He also committed to Niagara University during his time playing for the MOB.

“Tyler came to us in July and requested a move closer to home due to personal reasons. It was very tough for us to hear as he has been a model citizen, an exceptional player, and terrific leader for our organization over the past three seasons. We wish him the best moving forward this season.” Said Head Coach and General Manager Adam Manah.

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons would like to welcome Austin and Ryan to the city of Fort McMurray and the organization.

The Oil Barons would also like to thank Tyler for his contributions on and off the ice.
