Fort McMurray Oil Barons Sign Goaltender Sergio Davidson

Fort McMurray, AB — July 9, 2025 — The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are proud to announce the signing of goaltender Sergio Davidson for the upcoming 2025–2026 Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) season.

Davidson, a 2008-born netminder from Calgary, Alberta, joins the Oil Barons following an impressive campaign with the Calgary Flames U18 AAA program, where he helped lead his team to an Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL) championship. Over 18 regular season games, Davidson posted a 13-2-2 record with a 2.52 goals-against average (GAA), a .907 save percentage (SV%), and two shutouts. He continued his strong play in the postseason, going undefeated with a 6-0-0 record, a 2.67 GAA, and a .882 SV% over six playoff games.

“It’s an honor to join the Oil Baron family,” said Davidson. “My experiences with the community have been incredibly positive, and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead.”

Davidson is currently on the protected list of the Western Hockey League’s Portland Winterhawks.

“Sergio is a quick, athletic goaltender coming off a standout U18 AAA season,” said Oil Barons Head Coach and General Manager Sam Klassen. “His competitiveness in the net, particularly during practices, is exactly what I love to see in a goalie. He’s a dedicated student of the game who puts in the work to continually improve. We’re excited to welcome Sergio to the Oil Barons for the 2025–2026 season!”

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are thrilled to welcome Sergio and the Davidson family to the organization and the community.
