Fort McMurray, AB — July 12, 2025 — The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are proud to announce the signing of 2007-born forward Evan Benoit from Calgary, Alberta.
Benoit joins the Oil Barons after a productive season with the Calgary Flames U18 AAA, where he helped lead his team to an AEHL U18 AAA Championship. In 35 regular season games, Benoit recorded 19 goals and 23 assists for 42 points. He added another 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists) in 9 playoff games.
“I’m very excited and grateful to join the Oil Barons and the awesome community in Fort McMurray,” said Benoit.
Oil Barons Head Coach and General Manager Sam Klassen spoke highly of the new addition:
“Evan is a smart, smooth-skating forward that makes his linemates better. He’s a dynamic playmaker who also has the ability to finish as well. We’re excited to add another key piece from the AEHL U18 AAA championship team to our roster.”
