Fort McMurray, AB — July 16, 2025 — The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are proud to announce the signing of 2008-born defenseman Mac Leonard from Calgary, Alberta.
Leonard joins the Oil Barons after a strong season with Delta Hockey Academy U18 Prep, where he registered 13 points (1 goal, 12 assists) in 25 games played.
“I’m extremely excited to join the Fort McMurray Oil Barons,” said Leonard. “Being up there last year gave me a real sense of where I’m strong and where I need to grow, and that experience pushed me to be better. I’m coming in ready to make an impact and do whatever it takes to help the team win. I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity and the belief the organization has shown in me.”

We were impressed with his poise and maturity as early as last fall during our exhibition games, and he followed that up with a great 2024–25 season with Delta.
