The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are proud to announce that goaltender Vincent Filion has committed to the University of Quebec Trois Rivieres. The Patriotes compete in U Sports and have won 4 University Cup championships since being established in 1969.
Filion has played the most games amongst goalies in the AJHL with 43 where he has amassed a record of 20-19-3. The Shawinigan, QC, product sports a 2.71 GAA, with a .911 SV% this season.

His exceptional compete level, determination, and commitment to excellence have firmly established him as one of the premier goaltenders in the AJHL. His accomplishments, combined with the respect he has earned across the league, were clearly reflected in his nomination for the AJHL’s Most Valuable Player award. Vincent’s positive attitude and outstanding leadership qualities have made him a highly respected presence around his teammates. We have full confidence that he will make a meaningful and lasting impact at UQTR throughout his university career” Stated Oil Barons General Manager Joey Bouchard.
The netminder won Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week during the opening weekend of the AJHL season where he led the squad to consecutive victories over Lloydminster stopping 75 of 78 shots. Filion was also named team MVP for the 2024-25 season.
