Oil Barons sign U.S. born goaltender Ploszaj

Fort McMurray, Alta. (Jan. 6, 2016) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have signed the CJHL playing rights of 1996-born goaltender Forbes Ploszaj (Gilbert, AZ).

Ploszaj (pronounced P-lows-zah), 19, has split time between the West Kelowna Warriors and Surrey Eagles of the British Columbia Junior Hockey League (BCHL) this season. In 17 BCHL games, Ploszaj has recorded a 3.29 GAA and .900 save percentage.

“As a 19-year-old, Forbes provides us with added depth in net,” said Head Coach and General Manager Tom Keca. “Earlier this year (in B.C.), Forbes has shown that he’s a capable Junior ‘A’ goaltender. He’s also a great kid off the ice and we’re excited to welcome him to our team.”
