FORT McMURRAY, AB — The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are pleased to announce the signing of forward Josh Carreiro for the 2026-27 Alberta Junior Hockey League season.
Carreiro joins the Oil Barons from the Calgary Flames U18 AAA program, where he recorded 15 goals and 19 assists for 34 points in 37 games during the 2025-26 AEHL U18 season. The 2008-born forward from Calgary, Alta., brings a combination of offensive skill, hockey sense, and competitiveness to the Oil Barons lineup.
“Josh is a well-rounded centreman with a high hockey IQ that allows him to be effective in all areas of the game. His leadership qualities are evident, having served as captain of the Calgary Flames U18 AAA program, and he consistently leads by example both on and off the ice. Combined with his skill level and strong understanding of the game, Josh brings the type of character and talent that every team values.
