Oil Barons sign Fort McMurrayite Max McCoy

Fort McMurray, AB (April 7, 2020) ? The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are excited to announce that 2002-born forward Max McCoy (Fort McMurray, AB) has signed a letter of intent for the 2020-21 AJHL season.

McCoy joins his hometown team after spending the past two seasons with the Okanagan Hockey Association?s (OHA) Edmonton Midget Prep Team of the CSSHL. In 29 games with OHA last season, McCoy registered 58 points (18 goals, 40 assists) and 24 points (13 goals, 11 assists) in 35 games during the 2018-19 season.

?Growing up in Fort McMurray, I?ve seen first hand how much this community loves and supports the Oil Barons. I want to be part of that,? said McCoy.

?I?m excited to make the jump to Junior A next season and having the opportunity to play in front of my friends and family,? added McCoy. ?I?m also looking forward to playing for Gord Thibodeau ? he?s one of the great coaches in the AJHL and has a proven track record of helping players move on to the next level.?  

McCoy joins the Oil Barons with some Junior A experience, having appeared in four games with the MOB as an affiliate last season. McCoy also brings leadership experience to the MOB, having severed as team captain for his OHA team last season.
