Fort McMurray, AB (April 9, 2020) ? The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are excited to announce that 2002-born defenceman Jack Wolder (Calgary, AB) has signed a letter of intent for the 2020-21 AJHL season.
Wolder joins the Oil Barons after spending the past two seasons with the Calgary Royals Midget AAA team of the AMHL. In 27 games last season, Wolder recorded seven points (two goals, five assists) and 10 points (one goal, nine assists) in 31 games during the 2018-19 season.
?I chose to play for the Oil Barons because it?s a great organization that supports its players, has a great fanbase, and has the support of an entire community,? said Wolder. ?I was lucky to see this support first hand last season. After meeting the players, seeing the Casman Centre and meeting people from around town, I knew this was the place I wanted to play.?
In total, Wolder appeared in three games as an affiliate with the Oil Barons last season.
?I?m looking forward to playing for Gord Thibodeau next season,? added Wolder. ?He knows a lot about the game and I?m really excited to learn and grow under his guidance.?
?Jack?s a solid defender and a great kid,? said Head Coach and General Manager Gord Thibodeau. ?He will be a great presence on our back end.?
The Oil Barons would like to officially welcome Jack and the Wolder family to Fort McMurray and our organization.
