The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are proud to announce that Keefe Gruener has been named captain ahead of the 2023-24 season. Evan Arnold, Brett Boucher and Simon Diaz will join the leadership group as alternate captains.
Gruener played in his first season with the MOB last season after coming over from Winnipeg, MB. In his rookie season with the Oil Barons, the centerman scored 5 goals with 15 assists while being relied upon for his two-way play even strength and on the penalty kill.
Arnold is in his first season with the Oil Barons after being acquired this summer from the Sherwood Park Crusaders. The St. Albert product has 132 games of AJHL experience to his name.
Diaz is in his 3rd season with the club and has suited up in 100 games for the MOB from the back end.
Boucher, born and raised in Fort McMurray played in his rookie season with the Oil Barons last season and figures to be an integral part of the team this upcoming season.
