FORT McMURRAY, AB — The Fort McMurray Oil Barons and broadcaster Matthew Dekker have mutually agreed to part ways.
Dekker joined the organization on June 2, 2023, and served as the voice of the Oil Barons for the past three seasons. Throughout his tenure, he played an important role in delivering game broadcasts, sharing the stories of our players and staff, and helping connect Oil Barons fans with the team both in Fort McMurray and across the Alberta Junior Hockey League. In recognition of his work, Dekker was named a finalist for the 2026 AJHL Broadcaster of the Year award.
The Oil Barons would like to thank Matthew for his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the organization during his time in Fort McMurray.
