The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Lambert as the organization’s Director of Hockey Operations.
Lambert joined the Oil Barons organization on January 19, 2026, as Director of Business & Community Engagement and quickly established himself as a valuable member of the leadership team. Through his commitment to community engagement, organizational development, and strategic planning, Lambert has made an immediate positive impact while helping elevate the Oil Barons in all aspects.
“Jonathan Lambert brings an unmatched wealth of local expertise, an incredible passion for the Wood Buffalo community, and a proven history of leadership that makes everyone around him better,” said Oil Barons President Andrew Boutilier.
“To be entrusted with the opportunity to lead hockey operations for the Fort McMurray Oil Barons is both humbling and exciting,” said Lambert. “I would like to sincerely thank the Board of Directors for their confidence in me and for providing me with this opportunity to serve such a respected organization. It is clear just how important this team is to the Fort McMurray community and to the passionate fans who proudly support it year after year.

Lambert brings extensive leadership experience in education, athletics, governance, and community development. He previously served as Director of Athletics and Recreation at Keyano College from 2016 to 2025 and currently serves in his ninth year as a trustee with the Fort McMurray Public School Division. He also serves on the Regional Recreation Corporation (RRC) Board, Sport Wood Buffalo Board, and School Sport Alberta Board. Lambert holds a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership.
