Fort McMurray, Alta. (June 22, 2015) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have acquired 95-born goaltender Ravi Dattani from the Calgary Mustangs. In return, the Oil Barons have traded 97-born defenseman Oliver Lester and future considerations to the Mustangs.
In 52 games with the Mustangs last season, Dattani earned a 17-30-4 record with a 3.61 GAA and a .907 save percentage.
“Ravi’s a proven number one goalie in our league,” said Head Coach and General Manager Tom Keca.
“With the loss of Zach Fortin to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), we were looking for a proven 20-year old goalie to lead us next season. We believe Ravi is the guy to do that for us.”
Lester was acquired by the Oil Barons on June 1 to complete a January 10 trade with the Brooks Bandits. In 41 games with Bandits last season, Lester recorded 14 points (one goal, 13 assists) and 37 penalty minutes.
The Oil Barons wish Oliver the best in his future hockey endeavors.
