Fort McMurray, AB (November 2, 2017) – To honour Canada’s military men and women on Remembrance Day, the Oil Barons will dawn commemorative jerseys when the Canmore Eagles pay a visit to the Casman Centre.
Before the puck drops on the game, the Oil Barons will open an auction for each game-worn jersey and all proceeds will be donated to Royal Canadian Legion Branch 165 in Fort McMurray.
“As Canadians, it’s important for us to reflect on the role our brave military men and women have played in serving Canada at home and abroad,” said Oil Barons and Northern Alberta Athletic Association (NAAA) President David Fitzgerald. “This is our way of honouring them and raising money to support programs and services that are offered by the Royal Canadian Legion for veterans.”
The auction will continue until the end of the 2nd intermission. When the final buzzer sounds, the winning bidders will be invited on to the ice to collect their jersey from the player. Autographs and photos are also welcomed.
Can't make it to the game in person? Bids can be placed at any point until the end of the 2nd intermission by calling the Casman Centre at 780-743-5509.
