Fort McMurray, AB — June 18, 2025 — The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are proud to announce the signing of forward Jaggar John for the upcoming 2025-26 Alberta Junior Hockey League season.
A 2009-born product of Fort McMurray, John joins the Oil Barons following a standout season with OHA Edmonton’s U17 Prep team in the CSSHL, where he led the group in scoring with an impressive 66 points (28 goals, 38 assists) in just 31 games. He also played alongside fellow Fort McMurray native and recent Oil Barons signing, Cash Brebant.
“Signing Jaggar John was an easy decision for our organization,” said Oil Barons Head Coach and Interim General Manager Sam Klassen. “He brings dynamic speed, high-end playmaking ability and a contagious energy every time he steps on the ice. We’re excited to welcome Jaggar to our organization and are fully committed to supporting his development as he works toward earning an opportunity with the Saskatoon Blades.”
John, a third-round selection of the Saskatoon Blades in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft, brings a winning pedigree to the MOB. He was a key part of the 2022 U13AA Provincial Championship team from Fort McMurray and also earned a CSSHL U15 Championship in 2023.
“I’m excited and grateful for the chance to play for my hometown at the Junior A level,” said John. “I looked up to those guys when I was a kid so now to get a chance to be a part of the team is pretty cool!”
