Barons drop 2nd straight, Pontiacs win 4-1

BONNYVILLE, AB (October 30, 2012) – Harry Hendrix (Calgary, AB) scored only 50 seconds into the 2nd period, but the Fort McMurray Oil Barons (7-9-1) gave up four straight goals to the Bonnyville Pontiacs (11-5-3) en route to their second straight loss on the road Tuesday night.

Hendrix's opening goal was a shot in the arm for a team that had been outshot 11-5 in the opening frame, as he capitalized on a turnover directly in front of the home side's net to pot the unassisted marker.

But that lead would last only 57 seconds before Pontiacs captain Locke Muller fed a perfect 2-on-1 pass to linemate Alex Smith for a game-tying goal.

Less than two minutes later, Spencer Foo converted on a net-front scramble to double the lead, and just over halfway through the middle stanza, the Pontiacs converted just eight seconds into their first powerplay when Tommy Barszcz tipped home a point shot to make it 3-1.

The Barons, conversely, went 0-for-5 on their man advantage and are now 0 for their last 17 powerplays.

The MOB couldn't chip into the lead in the final frame, and Foo ended up converting on a 1-on-2 rush with a wrister fired into the top right corner of the MOB net to seal the 4-1 final with his second goal of the night.

Tanner Jaillet (Red Deer, AB) stopped 33 of 37 shots in the losing effort, while Pontiac goalie Stephen Klein stopped 25 of 26 Fort McMurray shots.

The Barons continue the road trip tomorrow night in Lloydminster when they take on the last-place Bobcats at 7:30 – pre-game coverage starts at 7:15 on Country 93.3.
