Fort McMurray, AB (February 5, 2018) – Curtis Roach has been named the AJHL's Defensive Player of the Week for January 29 – February 4.
Roach, 20, has opened February with seven points (one goal, six assists) in three games, helping the MOB to wins over the Bonnyville Pontiacs and Grande Prairie Storm at the Casman Centre. Despite only appearing in 29 games this season due to injury, Roach sits eighth in league scoring among all defenceman and is averaging over a point per game (1.1 points per game) with 32 points on the year (five goals, 27 assists).
Roach is the third Oil Baron to receive AJHL Player of the Week honours this season. Goaltender Chris Curr was named Defensive Player of the Week for December 30-January 7, while Will Conley was named Player of the Week for October 9-15.
