Oil Barons sign forward Ethan Anstey

Fort McMurray, AB (April 23, 2020) ? The Oil Barons are excited to announce that 2002-born forward Ethan Anstey (Yellowknife, NT) has signed a letter of intent for the 2020-21 AJHL season.

?It?s a huge honour to have the opportunity to play for the Fort McMurray Oil Barons,? said Anstey. ?Fort McMurray has a rich hockey history and the Oil Barons are a great organization with a culture of competing hard with grit and determination.?

Anstey is known as a skilled forward that plays the game at a high speed. He joins the Oil Barons after spending the past two seasons with the Shawnigan Lake School Prep Team of the CSSHL.

In 36 games last season, Anstey averaged over a point per game with 38 points (12 goals, 26 assists). During the 2018-19 season, he recorded 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists) in 32 games.

?Being from Yellowknife with family roots from Newfoundland, Fort McMurray is going to be like playing at home,? joked Anstey while referring to the many Newfoundlanders that now call Fort McMurray home. ?MOB fans are the best fans in junior hockey.?

?Playing for Shawnigan Lake allowed me to develop my skills on the ice, but more importantly, has showed me the importance of being a good person off the ice,? added Anstey. ?The Oil Barons do a lot of work to give back to the community and I?m looking forward to being part of that.?

The Oil Barons would like to officially welcome Ethan and the Anstey family to our organization.
