Oil Barons Host Kin Canada Kindness Day Game on February 8

Fort McMurray, AB — January 29, 2026 — The Fort McMurray Oil Barons will celebrate Kin Canada Kindness Day on Sunday, February 8, when they host the Canmore Eagles at Centerfire Place. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

As part of the Kin Canada Kindness Day celebration, the first 100 youth (under 18 years old) will receive free admission to the game, courtesy of Kin Canada, helping make the afternoon accessible for local families while highlighting the importance of community involvement and giving back. Ages 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult to attend the game. The Oil Barons will also host a player autograph session following the game, so when the final buzzer sounds, don’t take off just yet—fans will have the opportunity to meet their favourite Oil Barons and get a brand new batch of hockey cards signed.

Kin Canada Kindness Day is celebrated annually by Kin Clubs across the country and serves as a reminder to recognize acts of kindness within communities. The day also honours Kin Canada’s 106-year history of “Serving the Community’s Greatest Need.”

The Fort McMurray Kinsmen have supported the community for more than 60 years, contributing to numerous local initiatives and organizations including the Centennial Pool, Santa’s Anonymous, Northern Lights Health Foundation, Fort McMurray Food Bank, SPCA, Autism Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Ronald McDonald House, Minor Hockey, and many others. In addition to financial support, Kin members donate hundreds of volunteer hours each year across the region.
