Fort McMurray, Alta. (Jan. 19, 2016) – On Friday, February 12 and Saturday, February 13, the Fort McMurray Oil Barons will ‘Go Pink’ by wearing a commemorative pink jersey against the Lloydminster Bobcats, in support of the Bo Cooper Luekemia Treatment Fund. During both games, the Oil Barons will auction each game-worn jersey, with all proceeds going to Bo’s cause.
Cooper, 26, a Fort McMurray firefighter and mixed martial arts fighter is in a fight for his life – a fight with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Since his first diagnosis with leukemia in 2011, Bo has endured more than two years of chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant, and other treatments in a struggle to keep his health intact.
After years of fighting leukemia, Bo and his family believe his best hope is an experimental treatment called CAR T-Cell therapy, which is only available in the United States for a cost of $500, 000.
“We’re honoured to raise money to help support Bo and his family, as he continues his courageous battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia,” said Oil Barons President David Fitzgerald. “We’d like to thank Remax Fort McMurray for sponsoring this fundraiser to support Bo and together we wish him a speedy recovery.”
Bidding is now open. Bids can be placed by visiting the Casman Centre box office or calling (780) 743 – 5509. Bidding will close at the end of the second period against the Bobcats on February 13.
