Nederland’s Durkee a goal-scoring force in Canada

It started as a week-long trip to Las Vegas and ended up a three-year journey in a remote town in northern Alberta, Canada.

And, Adam Durkee's hockey adventures are far from over.

Durkee, a native of Nederland, has spent the past three years playing junior hockey 1,600 miles north of his hometown — suiting up for the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the A level Alberta Junior Hockey League. If it seems unlikely that Durkee just put on a blindfold and pinned a map in 2012 after finishing up his time with the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders, that's because it is. But there was a little bit of fate involved in him landing there.
