Houcher unanimously selected to AJHL All-League team

FORT McMURRAY, AB (March 12, 2015) – Fort McMurray Oil Barons captain and third-year forward Jetlan Houcher (Paradise Valley, AB) has been unanimously selected to the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s North Division All-League Team, it was announced today.

Houcher was the only player chosen as an all-league member by every single coach and general manager in the AJHL. He is the first unanimous selection of an Oil Baron since 2008, when forward Tyler Gron was selected to the North all-league team.

It is the fifth time in the last six seasons that the Oil Barons have had at least one player among the 6 selected annually to the North division’s All-League squad.

The 21-year old led the Oil Barons in goal scoring for the second consecutive season, and in overall points for the first time, recording 39 goals to lead the entire AJHL, 32 assists to rank 13th in the province, and 71 points, the third-highest total of any player in the AJHL.

Houcher is committed to the NCAA Division I University of Alabama-Huntsville Chargers, where he will begin his collegiate hockey career next season.

The Oil Barons return to action on April 25th when the 2015 Western Canada Cup kicks off at the Casman Centre, featuring the MOB and the champions of the four western Canadian Junior A leagues. Tickets are available at the Casman Centre box office, online at tickets.oilbarons.com, or by phone at (780) 743-5509.
