The Oilbarons bounced back from a tough 5-4 loss in overtime Friday with a thrilling victory Saturday defeating the Sherwood Park Crusaders 5-4 in the first shoot-out of the season at the Casman Centre.
The Barons stormed back from a 4-1 deficit in the 3rd period Friday only to fall in overtime. Kevin Lacroix (4th,5th) scored twice while Matt Purmal (1st) and Mike Marianchuk (3rd) added singles. Matt Purmal and Zach Wittenburg each had 2 assists. The Barons were outshot 42-28 and out chanced 18-12.
Saturday the MOB got goals from Luc Lalor (6th), Parker Evans-Campbell (4th), Alex Cromwell (4th) and Taylor Graham (3rd). Danny Gayle had 2 assists and scored the only goal in the shoot-out for the victory. The shots favoured the Barons 42-37 while Sherwood Park led in scoring chances 18-16. Ethan Wood was solid in net stopping all 3 shooters in the shoot-out.
