Coach’s Blog – Barons Still Undefeated

The Barons won both games at the Casman Centre this weekend to run their season opening undefeated streak to 17 games.

Friday the Barons defeated arch rival Camrose 3-2 behind a 33 save performance form Tanner Jaillet. The MOB got goals from Brennan Saulnier (3rd), Danton Ayotte (7th) and Jetlan Houcher(9th) in the victory. The Barons were out shot 35-27 but led in scoring chances 14-12.

Saturday saw the Barons beat Drumheller 4-1 in a very lackluster performance. The MOB were out shot 35-25 and outchanced 15-13 by a very determined Drumheller squad. Kevin Miller (10th/11th), Kaiden Tobin (3rd) and Jetlan Houcher (10th) scored for the Barons while Ryan Bloom added 3 assists against his former team. Jesse Gordichuk earned his 5th win with a solid performance in net.

Brennan Saulnier recorded his 100th career point in junior hockey with his goal against Camrose Friday.

Kevin Miller has points in 7 straight games while linemate Jetlan Houcher has a 4 game goal scoring streak.

The Barons now have tied for the 2nd longest unbeaten streak in Oil Barons history at 17 games, matching the 2011/12 team (14-0-3). The 1999/2000 Barons hold the league record with an amazing 26 game unbeaten streak.

Tanner Jaillet is now 11-0-1 on the season and 48-19-7 in career as a memeber of the MOB.
