Wallace Commits to Niagara University

Fort McMurray, AB (October 7, 2021) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are proud to announce that 2002-born forward Tyler Wallace (Calgary, AB) has committed to Niagara University.

The six-foot-two, 190-pound forward is currently in his third season with the Oil Barons where he amassed twenty-nine points (13 goals and 16 assists) in seventy-two games.

“As a veteran player, Tyler has worked hard on his conditioning this past summer both on and off the ice to become stronger and faster” said Head Coach and General Manager Gord Thibodeau.   “He’s a versatile, two-way player that can take a key defensive zone face-off on the penalty kill and turn around the next shift and score a big goal on the power play. As a coaching staff, we’re extremely happy with the progress Tyler has shown.”

He becomes the second Oil Baron to commit to a post secondary school this season. He joins Ryder Matter who recently committed to (Michigan Tech, NCAA)

Wallace’s arrival to the NCAA Division I program at Niagara University will be determined at a later date.

The Oil Barons would like to congratulate Tyler and the Wallace family on this accomplishment.
