Szudor Named AJHL Defensive Player of the Week

Fort McMurray, AB (January 23, 2017) – Fort McMurray Oil Barons goaltender Eric Szudor (Edmonton, AB) has been named the Alberta Junior Hockey League's Defensive Player of the Week for January 16-22.

Szudor, 19, registered three wins (including one shutout) over the weekend, during a road trip which saw the MOB make stops in Canmore, Okotoks, and Olds. Szudor is 18-9-1 on the season with a 2.17 GAA, ranking second among AJHL goaltenders. He also has the second most shutouts (four) among AJHL goaltenders this season and sits third in league save percentage at .924% on the season.

Szudor has been named the AJHL's Defensive Player of the Week twice this season, receiving the same honours for opening weekend on September 16-18. His accomplishment also marks the second time in as many weeks that a MOB defender has been named AJHL Defensive Player of the Week. Last week, JC Thivierge received the honours, while Curtis Roach received the same honours for October 10-16.
