Strathmore CFR Bisons forward Izyk commits to Oil Barons

Fort McMurray, AB (June 9, 2016) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are pleased to announce that 1998-born forward Liam Izyk (Nanton, AB) has committed to play for the team for the 2016-17 Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) season.

Izyk, 18, played for the CFR Bisons Midget AAA team in Strathmore last season. In 32 games with the Bisons, the 6'1″, 170 pound forward registered 22 points (eight goals, 14 assists) and 36 penalty minutes. Izyk also played a key role in the Bisons’ run to the Alberta Midget Hockey League (AMHL) final last season.

“Liam's a tremendous skater and plays the game with a lot of speed and intensity,” said Head Coach and General Manager Tom Keca.

“We were fortunate to see him play during our main camp last fall and watch his game progress last winter in Strathmore. He's a tremendous kid off the ice and a welcomed addition to our hockey club.”

Last week, the MOB welcomed five new faces to complete a pair of trades made with the Spruce Grove Saints and Brooks Bandits last season. For more information, visit www.fortmcmurrayoilbarons.ca
