Fort McMurray, AB (October 17, 2016) – Fort McMurray Oil Barons defenceman Curtis Roach (Saskatoon, SK) has been named the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s (AJHL) Defensive Player of the Week for October 10th – 16th.
Roach, 19, scored five points (one goal, four assists) in three games, helping the MOB extend their winning streak to seven games. Roach’s goal was also the overtime winner on October 15, helping the MOB to a 4-3 win over the Drumheller Dragons.
Roach is the second Oil Baron to receive AJHL Defensive Player of the Week honours this season. Goaltender Eric Szudor was named Defensive Player of the Week for opening weekend from September 16th-18th.
