Fort McMurray, AB (January 12, 2018) – When the Oil Barons host the Brooks Bandits and Camrose Kodiaks on January 19 and 20 at the Casman Centre, they’ll be doing so in style. The MOB have partnered with Lance Bussieres of RE/MAX Fort McMurray to wear commemorative jerseys and hold a jersey auction with all proceeds going to the Northern Lights Health Foundation.
“We’ve all visited a hospital or medical centre for help when we’re ill, injured, or require help from a doctor,” said Oil Barons President David Fitzgerald. “We’re honoured to partner with RE/MAX Fort McMurray once again to raise money for the health foundation and their programs and services that support Wood Buffalo families.”
Founded in 1985, the Northern Lights Health Foundation strives to improve the health and wellness of Wood Buffalo families by raising money for equipment, programs and services. Highlighted by its Gratitude Campaign, the foundation has focused on eight initiatives under the campaign that are geared at changing the face of health care in Wood Buffalo.
They include a healthy schools project aimed at helping kids learn about the benefits of physical activity, mental health, and healthy eating habits. Other initiatives include renovation projects aimed at modernizing the continuing care lobby and expanding the palliative care suites at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre, to provide comfort for patients and families that require long term care at the health centre.
The auction marks the second year in a row that the Oil Barons have held a jersey auction in support of the health foundation, with last year’s auction raising over $11,000.
Bidding will open before puck drop on January 19 and will close at the end of the second intermission on January 20. Bids can be placed by visiting the Casman Centre box office or calling (780) 743 – 5509 during office hours on January 20.
