Oil Barons sign two forwards

Fort McMurray, Alta. (June 15, 2015) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are pleased to announce the signing of two forwards, 1998-born Kole Gable (Fort McMurray, Alta.) and 1996-born Jake Wozney (Richmond, B.C.).

Gable joins the Oil Barons after serving as an affiliate with the team last season. He also joined the Oil Barons for the 2015 Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup.

“Kole is a hard working and smart player who reads the ice well and has a high compete level,” said Oil Barons Head Scout Doug Hergenhein. “He’s a local kid that will be a welcomed addition to the Oil Barons next season.”

In 34 games with the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers Midget AAA team last season, Gable scored 44 points (22 goals, 22 assists), with 30 penalty minutes.

Last season, Wozney split time between the Nanaimo Clippers of the British Columbia Junior Hockey League (BCHL) and Richmond Sockeyes of the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL). In 28 games with the Clippers and Sockeyes, Wozney scored 26 points (14 goals, 12 assists), with eight penalty minutes.

“Jake is a power forward that can put the puck in the net,” said Hergenhein. “He plays the game with an edge and has great work ethic.”
