Oil Barons Sign Goaltender Noah Nelson

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are excited to announce the signing of goaltender Noah Nelson for the 2023-2024 season.

Nelson, originally from Calgary, AB, suited up between the pipes 25 times for the Olds Grizzlys last season. Prior to that he played for the Calgary Northstars U18 AAA team. The netminder stands at 6’0″ and was born in 2005.

“We are very happy to announce the signing of 05 goaltender, Noah Nelson. With the departure of Andrew Ness to Penticton, we knew we had to find another solid 1-2 punch in the pipes for next season. A goalie that could come in and be a good teammate, work hard in practice, and push Gabe throughout the season. In saying that, we were also excited about the fact that he could learn from a pro type goalie in Gabe. Learn about how to prepare, his habits daily, and what it takes to be successful in our league. Noah is a very athletic goalie that is extremely fast in the net. He has the potential to be a terrific goalie now and in the future. There are times where he will make some saves and you ask how he did that. He works hard at his craft, and he proved that in his rookie season in U18AAA putting up a sparkling .929 SV%. We are looking forward to helping Noah continue to develop his game here with the Oil Barons.” Said Head Coach and General Manager Adam Manah.

The Oil Barons would like to welcome Noah and his family to the organization.
