FORT McMURRAY, AB – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are pleased to announce the signing of 2008 born goaltender Maverick Bell for the 2026-27 Alberta Junior Hockey League season.
The Maple Ridge, British Columbia product joins the Oil Barons after a strong campaign with the Vancouver NE Chiefs U18 AAA program in the BCEHL. During the 2025-26 season, Bell posted a 16-4-0 record in 21 appearances while recording a 2.75 goals against average and one shutout.
Bell established himself as one of the top goaltenders in the BCEHL U18 circuit, providing consistency and reliability between the pipes while helping lead the Chiefs to a successful season.
“Maverick brings a strong presence in goal and has the ability to give his team a chance to win every night,” said Assistant General Manager Jesse Mattson. “Beyond his performance on the ice, Maverick’s character and professionalism stand out, and we believe he will be an important part of our culture moving forward. We see him as a goaltender we can build around, and someone who will be a steady presence for us for years to come.”
