Fort McMurray, AB (January 11, 2021) – While play remains on pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Oil Barons? hockey operations team has been busy.The Oil Barons are excited to announce that the organization has signed four players to letters of intent (LOIs) for the upcoming 2021-22 AJHL season.
Joel Mabin – The big-body, 2003-born forward from Lethbridge, AB currently plays for the Lethbridge Hurricanes U18 AAA team. In 31 games with the Hurricanes last season, Mabin recorded 19 points (nine goals, 10 assists). Mabin also affiliated in one game with the Oil Barons last season. In four games with the Hurricanes this season, Mabin has registered three points (one goal, two assists).
Ryder Matter – The skilled, 2004-born forward from Beaumont, AB currently plays for the Leduc Oil Kings U18 AAA team. In 37 games with the Leduc Oil Kings U16 AAA team last season, Matter registered 31 points (12 goals, 19 assists). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Matter has been limited to one game this season.
Matthew Schulmeister – A natural leader, the 2003-born forward from Calgary, AB currently plays for the Calgary Flames U18 AAA team and serves as an assistant captain. In 29 games with the Flames last season, Schulmeister recorded five points (one goal, four assists), adding an assist in five games this season.
Aidyn Hutchinson – The skilled, offensively-gifted 2003-born forward from St. Albert, AB currently plays for the St. Albert Raiders U18 AAA team. In 30 games with the St. Albert Steel U18 AA team last season, Hutchinson recorded 57 points (23 goals, 34 assists). In five games this season, he?s recorded eight assists.
