The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are excited to announce the signing of forward Ben Strobel (05) for the 2023-2024 season.
Strobel played for the Okanagan Rockets U18 AAA last season and produced 34 points (15 goals and 19 assists) in 32 games. The Western Kelowna native also suited up in 3 games with his hometown Warriors of the BCHL.
“We are very excited to be adding Ben up front as he brings a lot of different quality traits to our forward group. For being an undersized guy, he has great speed and utilizes it in different ways to be effective. He can sneak in behind defenseman for breakaway opportunities, and when he does, he knows how to finish in tight. He is relentless pursuing pucks on the forecheck and can recover quickly tracking back off the rush or into his own end.” Said Head Coach and General Manager Adam Manah.
“One of the biggest qualities we noticed when watching him was simply how hard he worked every single time he was on the ice. That was echoed from anyone that had seen him the past few years in BC. They basically told us; you won’t find a harder working kid than Ben. He simply doesn’t quit when he is out there. Adding Ben, another player that plays with a lot of heart, work ethic, and determination out there makes us harder to play against because you know he will give you that effort and compete level every night. He was a leader for his team as an Asst. Captain, and we are happy to add a player of his character to our line-up for next season.”
The Oil Barons would like to welcome Ben and his family to the organization.
