The Fort McMurray Oil Barons have signed Demitri DiFlorio for the 2023-2024 season.
DiFlorio played for the Long Island Gulls U18 AAA last season. The Massapequa, NY, native is a defenseman born in 2004.
“We are thrilled to be adding Demitri to our back end for next season. He came highly recommended to us, and we can definitely see why. He has developed through the Long Island Gulls program, and they have done a terrific job in helping him grow as a defenseman. However, some of that credit goes to his dad, Jon, who trains some of the NHL players on the east coast and of course, Demitri too. We know he is dialed in on the gym side and will make sure that he is more than ready come training camp time.” Said Head Coach and General Manager Adam Manah. “On the ice, Demitri is today’s type of defenseman. He skates extremely well, makes smart decisions in all three zones, and likes to activate into the rush or in the offensive zone to create offense. On the defensive side of things, he closes time n’ space well, understands how to surf, and is sneaky by playing a heavier game when guys least expect it. All in all, we know we are getting character, accountability, and a solid person added into our D core for next season.”
The Oil Barons would like to welcome Demitri and his family to the organization.
