Fort McMurray, AB (April 18, 2018) – The Oil Barons are proud to announce that forwards Reed Morison and Jarred White have been named the team's most valuable players for the 2018 AJHL Playoffs.
The 19-year-old Morison led the Oil Barons in playoff scoring, notching 10 points (seven goals, three assists) in 10 games. Morison also had three multi-point games in the playoffs, including goals at key times to either give the Oil Barons a lead or to a tie a game.
The 18-year-old White finished second in team playoff scoring, recording eight points (five goals, three assists) in 10 games. White also had two, three point games and was a physical presence for the Oil Barons in the 10 playoff games he appeared in.
“As a coaching staff, we decided to award our playoff MVP to both Reed and Jarred,” said Oil Barons Head Coach Tom Keca. “Both players were great for us this year in the playoffs and made a difference each time they were on the ice.”
“As a coaching staff, we ask our players to be relentless on pucks and force opposing teams to challenge us for puck possession. I thought Reed and Jarred both exemplified the type of style we strive to play as a team and were arguably two of our best players at the most important time of the year,” added Keca. “Both players are deserving of these honours.”
The Oil Barons have already started preparing for the 2018/19 AJHL season, with spring camps scheduled from April 20-22 in Edmonton and April 27-29 in Cochrane.
