Fort McMurray, Alta. (July 21, 2015) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are proud to announce that Trent Lofthouse (Surrey, B.C.) has committed to attend and play for the University of Regina Cougars starting in the 2015-16 Canadian Interuniveristy Sport (CIS) season.
The 6-foot-3, 185 pound forward finished third in team scoring last season with 39 points (18 goals, 21 assists) in 43 games. He also played a key offensive role during the 2015 AJHL Playoffs and 2015 Western Canada Cup. In four AJHL playoff games, Lofthouse registered four points (one goal, three assists) and added four points (two goals, two assists) in five games at the Western Canada Cup.
“The Oil Barons are a professional organization and helped me take the next step toward prolonging my hockey career and achieving my educational goals,” said Lofthouse. “I was treated very well and had a great experience playing in Fort McMurray.”
Prior to joining the Oil Barons last season, Lofthouse played three seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL), where he joined the Everett Silvertips as a rookie in 2011-12. As a 19-year old with the Vancouver Giants in 2013-14, Lothouse recorded 15 points (10 goals, five assists) in 36 games.
The Oil Barons would like to congratulate Trent and the Lofthouse family on a tremendous accomplishment and wish him the best in his future hockey career and post secondary studies.
