FORT McMURRAY, AB (September 4, 2014) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are happy to announce that the organization’s broadcast agreement with KAOS 91.1 has been officially signed, and to introduce the broadcast team for the 2014-15 season.
Tyler King will continue as play-by-play announcer on the team’s broadcasts for his fourth season, while Bruce Ferguson will return as colour commentator for his sixth season.
King has called games for the Oil Barons since August of 2011, when the team played overseas at the first-ever Junior Club World Cup in Russia, and has been employed by the team since February of 2012.
Ferguson has been featured on Oil Barons broadcasts since 2009, and as a long-time resident of Fort McMurray and institution in local minor hockey, he brings unmatched expertise and perspective to home game broadcasts.
“The beginning of any season is special, but I think this year in particular is going to be extra special,” said Ferguson. “With the changes this organization has made, I think we’ll see a whole new brand of hockey, with the team coming out of the gate charging.”
“I’m looking forward to this monumental season, and especially to broadcasting the Western Canada Cup,” he added.
Oil Barons President Len Clarke and KAOS 91.1 Executive Director Rick Kirschner put the final signatures on the broadcast agreement at KAOS’ office earlier this week. The station will be the exclusive home for all 60 regular season games in the 2014-15 season, as well as all playoff games and the 2015 Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup, which will be hosted at the Casman Centre.
KAOS’ first broadcast will be this Friday night starting at 7:45 PM when the Oil Barons host the Drayton Valley Thunder in the 2014-15 home opener.
Tickets are available at the door, by phone at (780) 743-5509, or online at http://tickets.oilbarons.com
