The Fort McMurray Oil Barons announced today the hiring of Carter Duffin as Assistant Coach.
Duffin previously worked as Assistant Coach/Assistant General Manager of the Lloydminster Bobcats (AJHL) from 2021-2023. Prior to his time in Lloydminster, Duffin served as Head Coach/General Manager of the Castlegar Rebels (KIJHL) from 2018-2021 and was the Assistant Coach/Director of Operations of the Estevan Bruins from 2017-2018 where he helped lead the club to the SJHL finals.
“We are very excited to have Carter join our coaching staff. He brings a wealth of experience both as a Head Coach and an Assistant Coach throughout his career. He has coached at the Junior A level for the past four years and is extremely prepared, passionate, and detail orientated with his approach. We feel he will be a great fit to our coaching staff. He takes pride in building relationships with the players and does a fantastic job with video and player analysis. He will complement our program and the culture we are continuing to build here in Fort McMurray.” said Head Coach and General Manager Adam Manah.
Carter was originally born and raised in Red Deer, AB, where he first started coaching. He is a Hockey Canada High Performance 2 certified coach and has worked with Hockey Alberta at multiple Alberta Cups and Alberta Winter Games.
“I am very excited to be joining the MOB family and becoming a member of the Fort McMurray community. I am grateful to the Oil Barons for this opportunity and look forward to working alongside Adam, Pete, the players, and the rest of the Oil Barons organization.” said Duffin. “The Oil Barons have been and continue to be a highly respected organization in the AJHL and I’m looking forward to helping maintain and grow the winning culture both on and off the ice.”
The Oil Barons would like to welcome Carter and his family to the organization and to the community of Fort McMurray.
