Story Coming In:
Back to back losses have the Oil Barons sitting in third place in the North Division, but they remain two points back of Lloydminster, with both contests against the Bobcats going to extra time. In both games, the MOB surrendered third period leads, something that has happened only three times in 11 opportunities. Justin Dumais continues to impress for the Oil Barons. His point streak has reached six games and he is third in the AJHL with 33 points. Ryan Arnold managed to stretch his league’s longest active point streak to 11 games, while sitting fourth in the league with 31 points. Meanwhile, rookies Evan Benoit and Ethan Makokis have turned heads. Makokis scored his first career goal on Wednesday, while Benoit has tallies in three straight games to add depth scoring for the MOB.
View From Devon:
Devon sits seven points out of a playoff spot after dropping their last two games, including a 3-0 shutout at the hands of Drumheller. While the Xtreme have averaged the fewest goals in the AJHL, they are sound defensively, giving up the fourth fewest goals on average and having the third best penalty kill. Preston Lewis has been one of the busiest goalies in the league. The Salmon Arm native has played the second most minutes while putting up the second most saves. Lewis has played in every game against Fort McMurray, where he’s been terrific with a 2-1-0 record, a 2.35 goals average and a .941 save percentage. Lucas Knorr and Ben Deacon will carry the offence for the Xtreme. Knorr has four points in his last three games, while Deacon leads all rookies in goals with 11.
