Oil Barons Game Preview (Home Opener Series)

Story Coming In:

The Oil Barons wrapped up a season opening four game road trip with a pair of losses. Lack of offence has frustrated the MOB early on in the campaign, with the Barons scoring the fewest goals in the league. However, the effort is there for Fort McMurray. Outside of goals scored, the Oil Barons outplayed Devon on Friday and stuck with Whitecourt for the majority of the game on Saturday. Ryan Arnold scored a pair of goals against the Wolverines to be the first Oil Baron with multiple goals on the season. Fort McMurray hopes that kick starts the veteran, who was a little snackbit to start the season. The MOB prepares for a nine game home-stand with the first four games against South Division foes. Last year, the Oil Barons were 10-12-1-1 against the South. With that division looking even tougher this season, Fort McMurray hopes they can rise to the challenge and get themselves on track this campaign.

View From Drumheller:

The Dragons look to be one of the contenders for the league title this season. Off to a 3-1 start and ranked 9th in the inaugural CJHL Top 20 rankings, Drumheller has scored early and often on their opponents. Only once this season, they have not scored five or more goals in a single game. It starts with returning forward Bradley Gallo. The St Albert product began the season with back to back hat tricks, breaking a franchise record for the fastest three goals at just under five minutes. He also is tied for the league lead in points with 10. While all eyes are on Gallo, there are a number of young faces that are clicking early for the Dragons. Sullivan Humeniuk, Tyler Deakos, Matthew Hilderman and Jackson DeGraves are all rookies who are registering a point a game. Veteran Allen Sherpa is also on track to have a great season with six points in four games.
