Fort McMurray is coming off a strong weekend which saw them grab three of a possible four points. Coupled with a pair of Bonnyville losses this week, the Oil Barons are firmly in the driver seat for the final playoff spot with six games remaining in the regular season. It was a weekend to remember for Carter Schmidt. The veteran from Kelowna nabbed his 100th career point, while putting up four points in the two games. The veterans are starting to regain their rhythm for the MOB. Schmidt is riding a four game point streak and has 12 points in his last ten games, while captain Danny Akkouche has points in four of his last five games, as well as 14 points in his last 12 contests.

While mathematically eliminated from the playoff race, the Xtreme have not been an easy out for their opposition. Coming off a come from behind win versus Camrose and a one goal loss to Calgary, Devon has proven to be a young team that relishes the opportunity to play the role of spoiler. Levy Kozma leads the charge offensively for the Xtreme. His 19 goals is tops among all rookies in the AJHL. Owen Mastroianni and Lucas Knorr also have been two exciting rookies on this youthful Devon squad, while Jason Huang makes his return to Centerfire Place, after being traded for Mason Finley in December.
