Oil Barons board filled to the brim as new executive elected at AGM

FORT McMURRAY, AB (May 30, 2015) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are pleased to announce the following election results of the 2015 Annual General Meeting of the Northern Alberta Athletic Association (NAAA), which owns and operates the Oil Barons Hockey Club, and operates the Casman Centre.

At the meeting held at 10 AM at the Casman Centre Amphitheatre in Fort McMurray, Alberta, all Oil Barons season ticket holders were eligible to vote and run for the organization’s board of directors.

The NAAA is pleased to announce that a full slate of 20 directors was acclaimed at the meeting.

The NAAA welcomes back all 12 incumbent Directors:
• Karen Brebant
• Dave Britt
• Lance Bussieres
• Len Clarke
• Bruce Ferguson
• Dave Fitzgerald
• Villy Hansen
• Kim Hennessey
• Dan Lines
• Cecil Osmond
• Chad Runcer
• Jeff Sandeman

In addition, the following 8 individuals were nominated and accepted Director roles for the 2015-16 season:
• Barry Adams
• Ross Green
• Ken Hawco
• Willie Hoflin
• Scott Mundy
• Chad O’Keefe
• Kerri Reaburn
• Andrew Taylor

The Board of Directors was then responsible for the election of the four positions of the NAAA Executive. Where more than one nominee was put forward, a secret ballot of directors was held.

As a result, Dave Fitzgerald has been elected as the new President of the Northern Alberta Athletic Association. Dave Britt will return as Vice-President, while Kim Hennessey will shift from Treasurer to Secretary, and Andrew Taylor will serve as Treasurer.

Fitzgerald takes the helm of the NAAA after serving for 5 years on the Board of Directors. During that time, Fitzgerald coordinated and organized off-ice officials for all Oil Barons home games, as well as other hockey events, and also coordinated the same for all games of the 2015 Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup.

His association with the Oil Barons dates back much farther, as he was a stick boy for the team in the MOB’s inaugural season, and dressed for a handful of games as an affiliate player in the 1983-84 season.

“I really want to thank the past executive that was in place for all the hard work that they have done,” said Fitzgerald. “I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead, and working with the new board to support the Fort McMurray Oil Baron organization, and bring it the success that it deserves going forward.”

The Oil Barons organization would like to thank all of the season ticket holders who came to today’s meeting and made it one of the most-attended AGMs in recent memory.
