Oil Barons Acquire Sharf from BCHL?s Chilliwack Chiefs

Fort McMurray, Alta. (Sept. 20, 2015) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have acquired 1996-born forward Ben Sharf (Williamsville, NY) from the British Columbia Hockey League’s (BCHL) Chilliwack Chiefs for future considerations.

“Ben provides us with added depth up the middle and has shown that he is a proven playmaker,” said Head Coach and General Manager Tom Keca. “As a ’96 foward, Ben possesses a lot of skill and play making abilities. We’re excited about about the opportunity to acquire him and welcome him to Fort McMurray.”

Last season, Sharf played for the Connecticut Wolf Pack of the East Coast Elite League (ECEL), registering 14 points (six goals, eight assists) in 29 games. Prior to last season, Sharf played three seasons at the Loomis Chaffee Prepatory School in Windsor, Connecticut. In 76 games at Loomis, Sharf registered 78 points (17 goals, 61 assists), helping Loomis capture a national title in 2013.

Sharf has committed to play Division I NCAA hockey for the Colgate University Raiders.
