Oil Barons acquire Hamly and Cox from Saints

Fort McMurray, AB (May 30, 2016) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are pleased to announce the future considerations from a January 6, 2016 trade with the Spruce Grove Saints.

On January 6, the Oil Barons traded 1995-born goaltender Ravi Dattani (Calgary, AB) to the Saints for future considerations. To complete the trade, the Oil Barons have acquired 1998-born forwards Jack Hamly (Sherwood Park, AB) and Ryan Cox (St. Albert, AB) from the Saints.

In 40 regular season games with the Saints last season, Hamly recorded 15 points (six goals, nine assists) and 26 penalty minutes, while Cox registered 14 points (five goals, nine assists) and 32 penalty minutes in 41 games.

“We’re excited to welcome Jack and Ryan to Fort McMurray,” said Head Coach and General Manager Tom Keca. “As 18 year-olds, both players have a lot of speed and skill, which they showed last season with a very good hockey club in Spruce Grove.”

“We’re confident that both players are going to have a positive impact on our lineup and play key roles for us next season.”
